7 Day Self-Care Challenge Day #2: Hydration
Yup, today we’re going to focus on good old hydration. It’s not rocket science, it’s not original, it’s not exciting. In fact, it’s one we all know we should be doing. Another one of those “shoulds.” However, there are times when part of self-care is centering on those boring, basic shoulds.
We’re not going to delve into this one too deeply because there’s so much information out there telling us how important it is to stay hydrated. This is a thing we all know. Being properly hydrated means that we’ll sleep better, our cognition and mood will be improved, organs will continue functioning properly, our bodies will continue to be nourished and detoxed, our joints will be lubricated, and on and on.
For today, however, we simply want to stay mindful of our bodies needs and honoring them.
It doesn’t have to be boring, though. There are so many ways other than straight water. In fact, COFFEE counts towards your fluid intake! Milk, juice, tea, water-rich fruits and vegetables all help with our levels of hydration. Not to mention all of the possible additives and infusions that can make water more interesting; I find lime and cucumber to be ridiculously refreshing.
A few tips for staying hydrated:
Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink. By the time you feel thirsty, you’re already slightly dehydrated.
Set reminders on your phone to help keep it top of mind.
Keep in interesting!
